A woman’s life has sadly been cut short due to a motor vehicle collision in Illinois. In addition, a man suffered serious injuries in the recent two-car collision. These types of car accidents can easily happen when a driver is negligent behind the wheel — for example, by failing to yield to oncoming traffic — which is grounds for litigation.

The recent accident in Illinois took place at about 1 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. According to police, a 61-year-old woman started to turn south from a parking lot to enter Illinois Route 133. However, she reportedly did not yield to a car that a 37-year-old man was driving.

Police reported that the man ended up striking the woman’s passenger side. The woman’s car then left the roadway on the right, whereas the man’s car left the street on the left. Unfortunately, the woman died as a result of the crash. The man survived the crash but had to be taken to a medical center due to suffering major injuries.

The injured man may choose to file a personal injury claim, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the crash. Although the woman who reportedly caused the crash passed away in the Illinois collision, the man may still file a suit against her estate. In addition, he may sue any other person who has an ownership interest in the car that the woman was driving when the collision happened. If he is successful in his claim, he may receive an award of damages that might help with addressing hospital bills and other losses tied to these types of car accidents.
