Car accidents may occur due to failing to stop at stop sign

Four people have sadly been injured in an Illinois crash involving two motor vehicles.  The accident took place at a little before 1 p.m. on a Wednesday. Sometimes, these types of car accidents take place as a result of a driver's negligence, such as blowing through a stop sign, which is grounds for civil litigation.

According to police, the recent accident occurred when a woman, 27, was driving her car east along a road. A 3-year-old and 4-year-old child were also in the car. However, the woman reportedly failed to come to a halt at a stop sign. At that time, she collided with another motor vehicle that was going south along Illinois Route 4.

The man driving the second motor vehicle, age 73, reportedly ended up hitting the driver-side door of the first car. Both of the cars then allegedly rolled multiple times. All three parties in the first car suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. The man was taken to the hospital with injuries, although his injuries were not deemed to be life threatening.

In this situation, the man may opt to file a personal injury claim against the driver of the first car, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the crash. He must establish liability in an Illinois civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, before his claim for damages will be determined. If he is successful, he might receive a monetary damage award to cover his hospital bills and other losses stemming from these types of car accidents.
