A mother of three children under age 7 made four doctor visits complaining of vaginal bleeding, but the physicians failed to timely diagnose cervical cancer. They misdiagnosed the bleeding and misread a Pap smear 30 days before the cancer was diagnosed. She died from cancer, and we sued on behalf of her estate. Our expert witnesses demonstrated that it was a deviation from the standard of care to fail to do a biopsy to rule out cervical cancer when the patient presented with abnormal vaginal bleeding, and we secured a physician's admission of negligence during testimony. We secured $5.25 million for our client after taking the case before a Cook County jury.
