The life of an individual in Illinois has sadly been snuffed out in a motor vehicle crash reportedly caused by drunk driving. However, the man who allegedly caused the car crash has been arrested for driving under the influence. In addition, the drunk driving that can cause these types of car accidents is grounds for litigation.

The recent Illinois accident took place in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway on a Friday morning. At around 3:53 a.m., a 47-year-old man was reportedly driving a car along the interstate. However, he then allegedly hit a black car due to failing to reduce his speed.

The car that the 47-year-old man struck ended up catching fire. The driver of this motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident. After the crash, the 47-year-old man, who suffered injuries, was taken into custody and now faces a felony charge of aggravated death due to driving under the influence. His bond is $50,000.

The surviving loved ones of the individual who died in the fiery Illinois crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the man who reportedly caused the accident, seeking damages. If the man ends up being convicted on his DUI charge, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish liability in the crash. If the plaintiffs are successful, they may receive damages to cover burial costs and other expenses associated with these types of car accidents.
